This season, RCB won the IPL 2025 final, their first title since 2008. As the most popular team in the IPL, they finally won the title, shedding the title of the unluckiest team. After winning the title this season, RCB has finally shed that title. Currently, I believe Punjab Kings is the most unlucky team in IPL 2025. Having participated in the IPL since 2008, Kings XI Punjab has failed to win the title for over ten seasons until 2025. Formerly known as Kings XI Punjab, the name change hasn't helped. The team's overall win rate is low (around 38%). They reached the final in 2014 but lost to KKR. However, they performed well this season, reaching the final but losing to RCB. Given their previous performance, PBKS is undoubtedly one of the unluckiest teams currently.
DC (formerly Delhi Daredevils) have yet to win the title; although they reached the final in 2020, they failed to win the final. Their performance has fluctuated over the seasons, occasionally showing bright spots despite strong starts or a stellar lineup, but they have failed to achieve their championship aspirations.
LSG, despite being a relatively new team (joining the IPL in 2022), have yet to win an IPL title or reach the final. Due to their relatively young age, some of their misfortunes are likely due to a lack of experience and time.
Despite reaching the finals numerous times (2009, 2011, 2016, etc.), RCB hadn't won a title until 2025, leading to the team being labeled "close but failed" for many years. Their unlucky nature stems from the prolonged pressure they endured without success.
PWI, A retired team, played few seasons and had poor results, which I consider unlucky. They have the worst record, with a very low win rate of just 19.05%. They've played 42 matches, won 8, lost 34, and haven't won a single title.
