India defeats England in second T20I by 24 runs: Jemimah & Amanjot Lead a Stunning Comeback in Bristol

India Women continued their impressive run in the ongoing T20I series with a commanding 24-run victory over England Women in the second T20I at the County Ground in Bristol on Tuesday. With this win, India took a 2-0 lead in the five-match series, building on their emphatic 97-run triumph in the opener.

Jemimah and Amanjot Steady the Ship After Early Blow:

After being put in to bat, India found themselves in early trouble, slipping to 31/3 in the powerplay, including the loss of Smriti Mandhana in her milestone 150th T20I. But Amanjot Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues pulled off an incredible comeback. Together, they formed an important 93-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Amanjot stayed undefeated at 63 from 40 deliveries, while Jemimah produced a fluid knock of 63 off 41 balls, securing the innings and keeping the scoreboard moving. Their calm yet aggressive approach helped India post a formidable total of 181/4 in 20 overs. Richa Ghosh's unbeaten 32 off 17 balls added vital runs at the death.

Early Wickets Derail England's Chase:

England's chase started on the wrong foot with both openers – Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt-Hodge – dismissed inside the first two overs. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt also fell cheaply, leaving England reeling at 17/3.

Tammy Beaumont provided some resistance with a gritty 54 off 35 balls, forming a 70-run stand with Amy Jones. But Beaumont's run-out in the 12th over shifted the momentum firmly in India's favour. Left-arm spinner Shree Charani continued her impressive form, claiming two vital wickets and effectively halting England's middle-order momentum.

Although Sophie Ecclestone's late appearance of 35 off 23 balls gave some optimism, England ultimately managed 157/7 in their 20 overs because the asking rate had increased too much.

Charani Shines Again With the Ball:

Shree Charani, who had starred in the first T20I with a four-wicket haul, again proved to be a key figure with the ball. Her tight lines and ability to pick wickets at crucial moments turned the game India's way in the second half of the chase.

Next Stop: The Oval

India's clinical performance underlines their growing confidence and form ahead of the upcoming World Cup. With a 2-0 lead, they'll head to London for the third T20I at the Kennington Oval on Friday, aiming to seal the series.

India 181/4 (Rodrigues 63, Amanjot 63*, Bell 2-17)

England 157/7 (Beaumont 54, Ecclestone 35, Charani 2-28)

India won by 24 runs – lead 2-0 in the five-match series.
