Cricket fans are super hyped seeing India and Australia series tickets gone four months early. Cricket Australia says the demand for the India-Australia series is crazy high. Tickets for two big games—the Sydney ODI and Canberra T20I—sold out a whole four months before they even play. Over 90,000 tickets for the eight-game series (3 ODIs and 5 T20Is) vanished in just two weeks after they went on sale. Seems like everyone's excited about this one.
The Indian diaspora really came through, buying over 16% of all tickets. Groups like the Bharat Army grabbed 2,400 tickets, and Fans India picked up 1,400. A guy named Amit Goyal from Brissy Baniyas (that's an Aggarwal community group) bought a whopping 880 tickets for the Gabba T20I, making him the biggest single-match buyer. Other groups, like the Indian Community of Gold Coast and Pakka Local, also chipped in big time, getting 500+ tickets each for games at Gold Coast and the MCG.
The October 25th ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and the October 29th T20 at Manuka Oval in Canberra were the first to sell out – no surprise there, since fans love those venues. Other games are still in high demand too, like the T20s at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the Gabba. Joel Morrison, Cricket Australia's Events Head, thinks this excitement is because of last year's awesome Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which made the rivalry super exciting again. He says, With so many Indian and Australian fans coming, the vibe is going to be crazy!
